The recent onslaught of talk shows and reports on obesity make it easy to become caught up in the media frenzy. Women are particularly targeted with the message that if they are fat they are physical, emotional and spiritual cripples. Fat & Happy will address how the current media hysteria on obesity negatively impacts our perception of the relationship between weight and health thus leading to a false sense of "thin security" and increased potential for disordered eating.
Fat & Happy can be adapted to any audience. This power point presentation and discussion is ideal for addressing women's body image, eating disorders or the political implications for women of all sizes in a fat phobic society.
For more information about the Fat & Happy Program, read Deb Lemire's article, A False Sense of "Thin" Security, originally published in epitome magazine.

Adapted from scripts of commonly watched television shows, participants re-create the television show scenario and closely examine how we publicly address body issues providing an opportunity for participants to develop a critical response to the messages to which they are exposed.
Train the trainer sessions are also available for booking. Ideally suited for educators who have an opportunity to influence the thought process for those struggling with body image issues.
Critical Stage can be expanded to include Fat & Happy materials.
